The Sluis tower windmill was found quite accidentally on almost our first drive around, it was tucked away beside a nice inn in Sluis , and it was open to the public. The children who were then nine and ten loved the experience, we adults enjoyed it, something different, the only thing missing was the wind, so we could not see the huge sails in motion or the running of the enormous array of the windmills gears within.
We had purchased a rail travel pass before our visit so most of our traveling was by train and by the time our visit was over we had only seen a handful of windmills, most of which were in the distance, anyhow we had all been inside one , a first for all of us.
The chances are that if you tell anyone your off to see some windmills they assume you are going to Holland, well I thought this way once, now over a decade later I would ask them if English or Dutch?
